About

6686 Arundel Rakaia Gorge Road is one of Canterbury's best kept secrets with our camping ground sited on the plateau directly above the Rakaia River at the Gorge bridges.

Camping

The camping ground is run by the permanent members of the Rakaia Gorge Society Incorporated and is run non-profit.

Our camp has 58 permanent sites and ample room to accommodate casuals and tourists.

The camping ground has no power available but offers the use of our ablution block which includes a kitchen, laundry area, toilet facilities, showers and provides a gas operated hot water supply.

There are picnic tables and BBQ areas, some overlooking the river.

The grounds are beautifully kept by our camp managers and the camp has an abundance of trees providing shelter.

Sites are $10.00pp and to encourage family groups, children under 10 are free.

Other Attractions

Other attractions include Jet Boating and Salmon fishing the world famous Rakaia River, Jet Boat tour operators, the Rakaia Gorge walk-way and to top it off Methven and Mount Hutt are within a 15 minutes' drive.
